About Us
David Hassler's sojourn in editing and writing covers over 20 years. In addition to extensive copyediting and proofreading experience as a newspaper and magazine editor, Dave has reported hard news and sports, written hundreds of feature articles and designed and laid out a mountain of pages for publication. He served as the news and Web editor of QST, a national communications magazine, and has held managerial editing positions at three newspapers in the Pacific Northwest. Dave has also worked as a section editor. His creative endeavors include poetry, short stories and screenwriting.
Dave has earned numerous accolades as a writer and editor over the years, including awards for best editorial by the Society of Professional Journalists' Oregon chapter, best local column by the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association and the Award of Special Merit for being a part of the team that won the national 2007 Grantham Prize for Environmental Reporting.
Raised in Clackamas County, Oregon, Dave holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Portland State University, an associate's degree in journalism from Clackamas Community College, and he completed graduate coursework in the humanities at California State University, Dominquez Hills. He lives in Vancouver, Washington.
