About

I started Vanport Media in 2010 because I wanted to continue to be of service to others.  After a 12-year career in print journalism as a writer and editor, in 2008 I put on a suit and tie to work in P.R. and insurance, but I quickly found that the world of corporate business was not for me.  My life-long love of words and good writing made the decision to open Vanport Media a no-brainer: I wanted to use my editing, writing and layout skills to help people who write wonderful things.

I grew up in Clackamas County, Oregon, attended Portland State University for my bachelor’s degree, and currently live in Vancouver, Washington.  Among my non-journalism pursuits, I’ve been a bus driver, volleyball coach and guitar player (if you’d like to see a full résumé, just let me know).  I enjoy creative and non-fiction writing, cooking, hiking on sunny days, ham radio, simple gardening, baseball, and all kinds of cool, new technology.
